'All cultures shine' Inquiry - How to make Koko Alaisa

Here is a gorgeous video of some pre school children making Koko Alaisa with their Teacher. This was one of the Samoan dishes we sampled on the second to last day of last term (using canned coconut cream and cocoa powder). It was such a hit! We had so many children from other classes stopping by for a bowl as well.

Perhaps something that you may like to make these holidays. Especially as the weather has been getting cooler. If you do decided to have a go at making this. Let me know how you get on.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays

Dancing like the stars

Next term Room 7 are participating in 'Dancing like the stars'. This is where we have professional dancers who come and teach a particular style of dance over 24 sessions. Our school has been lucky enough to activly participant in this event over the past few years. After we've completed our sessions we perform at an evening concert at the Aurora centre.
Next term we will be learning the Tango. We are fortunate to have Graham and Gloria as our dance teachers. Graham and Gloria have already popped into room 7 to meet us and had a fabulous conversation in Spanish with Alex.
It was lovely to see Alex using his first language in our class. We all watched and listened intently. No doubt we will pick up some Spanish along the way.
I hope Room 7 you are as excited as I am.

Remember these two habits from our class treaty,
"We come to school with a smile and try our best" and "We help each other be the best we can be"

Elgregoe Show

This afternoon we had the privilege of having Elgregoe come to our school. He entertained us with his amazing illusions & through his show we were reminded of our school values. We learned about ways to be trustworthy, respectful, to accept others, be responsible and care for one another. These five values will help us to have the best day at Waltham school. We sure did enjoy his energy and enthusiasm.

Sailing Pt 2

Last Friday we had an awesome ay of sailing. I was so impressed with how the children actively participated in the activities throughout the day. The team work displayed was another highlight for Kelly and I.
A very special 'thank you' would have to go out to our wonderful Mr Weaver (classroom teacher Room 10) for his organisation of this thoroughly enjoyable day. We cannot forget our fantastic helpers as well, who on this occasion were all older sisters of Charlotte, Jorja and Georgia in room 7. Megan, Karla and Pam we couldn't have had such a great day without your help.......or treats

Kelly and I took so many photos, here are a few so far and I'll upload more later on.
Thank you Room 7 for an amazing day.
